A rewarding, in-demand profession

Colon hydrotherapy is the infusion of warm, purified and temperature-regulated water into the large intestine (colon). The waste is hydrated and softened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis — repeated several times during a session.

There are two professional methods of administering Colon hydrotherapy: the Open and Closed systems. The International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy (I-ACT) represents both, and the method a therapist uses is their personal choice. Our school teaches using the Open device; the open system infuses gravity-fed, temperature-regulated water via a pencil-thin tube that the client self-inserts in private, after a consultation and instructions from a certified therapist.

Modern Colon Hydrotherapy uses registered equipment (classed as a medical device) operated by certified personnel. The procedure is private, safe and effective when standard operating procedures and guidelines are followed. It's becoming increasingly popular with Health professionals, including integrative Doctors.

Hippocrates said, "all disease begins in the gut." The health of the gut and microbiome is central to overall wellbeing — constantly influencing the immune system, nervous system, skin, heart and brain. Colon hydrotherapy plays a significant role in supporting gut health, cleansing, immunity, the gut–brain connection, fitness and beauty.

What colon hydrotherapy may support

Colon hydrotherapy is not a cure-all, but as a practitioner you'll learn how it may help the body restore balance and support a wide range of wellbeing concerns, including:

  • Constipation relief
  • Bloating & gas
  • Poor digestion
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Low immunity & low energy
  • Skin conditions
  • Headaches & backaches
  • Irritability & low mood
  • Difficulty with weight management
  • General detox & wellbeing

Colon hydrotherapy is a complementary wellness therapy and is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment.
