A genuine detox works on multiple levels at once. At Gumtree Retreat, our programs combine the most effective cleansing treatments — colon hydrotherapy to clear accumulated waste and activate the bowel, infrared sauna to drive a deep sweat and support circulation, ion foot detox to assist elimination, and therapeutic massage to stimulate the lymphatic system and help the body process what it's releasing.
Add cold-pressed juices, soups and broths to give your digestive system a rest while flooding your body with nutrients, and you have a complete, coordinated cleanse. Andrew and Michelle have been running these programs since 2006, and the 40-acre bushland setting adds something you can't get from a clinic in town — genuine quiet and space to slow down.

Before and after your detox
You'll get the most from your program if you prepare a little beforehand. For a few days prior, eat lightly — minimise caffeine, alcohol, sugar, heavy meats and processed foods, and drink 1–2 litres of water daily. On the day, avoid eating for 2 hours before your first treatment.
After your program, your therapist will provide an electrolyte drink and probiotic. Stick to light, easy-to-digest foods for the rest of the day — steamed vegetables, soups, broths and smoothies. Many guests find the afterglow of a full detox program lasts several days.

Gumtree Retreat is at 3570 Orara Way, Kungala NSW 2460 — approximately 45 minutes from Coffs Harbour and 35 minutes from Grafton. Clients come from across the Mid North Coast, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Woolgoolga, Sawtell and the wider Clarence Valley for our detox programs. All programs are by appointment.

What's included in a detox program?
Depending on the package, your program will combine some or all of: colon hydrotherapy, infrared sauna, ion foot detox, therapeutic massage and cold-pressed juice nutrition. The Feel Good ($145) starts simple with a colonic and sauna. The Feel Amazing ($360) gives you a full day including all treatments plus juices, soup and broth. The Revive ($550) runs over two days.
Can I stay overnight?
Yes. The Revive Detox can include an overnight stay in our Billabong Cabin for an additional $130, including supper and a breakfast hamper. The cabin sits on 40 quiet acres of Orara Valley bush. Most guests who do the Revive find the overnight stay transforms it from a treatment day into a genuine retreat.
Do I need to prepare?
No preparation is essential, but eating lightly in the days before makes a real difference. Minimise caffeine, alcohol, sugar, bread and heavy foods, and stay well hydrated. On the day of treatment, don't eat for 2 hours before your first appointment. Your therapist will guide you through the rest.
Is a detox program right for me?
Most healthy adults benefit from a detox program, particularly if they're feeling sluggish, bloated, low in energy, or have been through a period of poor diet. If you have any health conditions, it's worth calling us first so we can advise on the most suitable program. Some conditions are contraindications for certain treatments.
How often should I do a detox program?
That depends on your health goals and how you feel. Some clients do a detox program once a season, others once or twice a year. Your therapist can help you design a plan that makes sense for your body and lifestyle. Many also use the Colonic & Sauna Bundle (3 of each for $375) to maintain the benefits between full programs.
How far is Gumtree Retreat from Coffs Harbour?
About 45 minutes. Head south on the Pacific Highway toward Grafton, turn right onto Orara Way at Glenreagh, and follow the valley road to 3570 Orara Way, Kungala NSW 2460. From Grafton it's about 35 minutes heading north. Search "Gumtree Retreat Kungala" in Google Maps before you leave.
