Coffs is a good place to be. But sometimes you want the opposite of a beach town. Gumtree Retreat is in the Orara Valley hinterland, about 45 minutes south-west of Coffs, and it genuinely does feel different from the coast.
The property is 40 acres of bush. Quiet, no foot traffic, no neighbours visible from the treatment rooms. If you're a Coffs local wanting a proper day off, or visiting the area and want something more than a beach, it's worth the drive.
Everything is by appointment. Andrew and Michelle take their time with every guest and nothing is rushed.

Gumtree Retreat is approximately 45 minutes from Coffs Harbour. Take the Pacific Highway south toward Grafton. After about 30 minutes you'll reach the Glenreagh turn-off — turn right onto Orara Way (signposted to Nana Glen and Glenreagh). Follow Orara Valley Way through the bush for around 15 minutes, with no complicated turns. Gumtree Retreat is at 3570 Orara Way, Kungala NSW 2460, on your left.
